Breastfeeding for new moms

But, here I list today a few tips that can help you with your breastfeeding, it comes with months of different experimentation.

Tips for different breastfeeding scenarios:

Scenario no.1:
Tip 1:
Mother is too tired from the whole days work, she sees her partner sleeping next to the baby and herself. She looks at the clock it shows 3:00 am in the morning. She gets very much frustrated and in turn hampers the breastfeeding for the new mom. In this particular breastfeeding scenario, the mother should never look at the watch when she gets up, do not time the minutes of your feed either. Both the acts might give rise to frustration. Also, if you feel the partner should also help you, talk to him. If he is unwilling to sacrifice his sleep, ask him politely to set into the other room for a few days till he gets used to the new changing schedule. Definitely he would understand.

Scenario no. 2:
Tip 2:
Mother heartily breastfeeds the baby, as long as the baby wants but the baby still is cranky and the relatives begin to say may your milk volume or supply is less and you should do something about it. For such a situation my tip to breastfeeding new mom is trust your instincts, always remember new born babies feed for a very short time and get hungry every two hours. It’s not specific to only your baby, rather happens to all the babies. He is not hungry every two hours because you didn’t feed him enough. Still, if you feel milk is less consult your Gynaecologist, he too will tell you the same. So just keep breastfeeding your baby frequently, it will increase you milk supply. If you aren’t able to, my tip for breastfeeding new moms is at-least try to pump your milk, this too will improve your milk.

Scenario no. 3:
Tip 3:
You want to breastfeed your baby, you are not against it. But your nipples become sore in the initial days and even your back hurts. You are thinking of weaning your baby off breast milk as soon as possible but start feeling guilty. Perfect latch is the key. Find a position comfortable for yourself and the baby. Try using a nursing pillow, it helps the baby’s position to be right and keeps your back straight which will prevent back pain. For the nipple soreness try using a pill few hours before you breastfeed if the pain is very severe. If not then use cold compress over your nipple after and before breastfeeding. So my tip for breastfeeding for new mom is never give up on breastfeeding, try finding solutions to your problems everything has a good solve. Breastfeeding leads to a good bond between the baby and the mother.

Breastfeeding is going well, the poop and pee count of your baby is great, but the baby keeps getting colic and cries a lot because of it. You feel helpless and end up blaming yourself. Babies get gases trapped in their tummy very easily. The take in some air even while the are latched to your breast, or even when crying. This mechanism is set up so that the baby gets maximum of the milk in every suckling action. But if you feel your milk is causing the colic, change your diet.
