Pain of breastfeeding sets in

Once you have aced the technique of latching and the baby starts breastfeeding every two hours the pain in the nipple and the breasts set in. Some time it might be so excruciating that you feel your nipple might rip off, especially night times when the baby’s hunger hormones are at a surge they feel the need to feed more and thus make your nipples go dancing in pain. At this level you can take a simple pain killer like paracetamol before you start your feed at-least a couple of hours before. But it is advisable only if the pain is too much, and you are struggling a lot. Other option being cold compression, over the nipple and around your breast, this too works like a charm. And after a few weeks your body will adapt and the pain will disappear as if it was never there.
