5 Baby Advices On Myths To Help You Handle Your New Born

After the delivery the mother is usually bombarded with tons and tons of advices, and she is stuck in a state of confusion where she can neither neglect them nor follow them. Sometimes, the baby advice for new moms are so thought provoking that they get glued to google and you-tube for hours together. But the reality is some of these advices may be old folk tales and other may be really genuine. So here today we will list down some true and meaningful new baby advices for new moms vs some myths that are not.

Myth 1: Babies learn to sleep all night after 3-4 months.

Advice for new moms: Create an environment & make them learn to sleep

As much as we want our babies to be sleeping whole night peacefully without any disturbance it actually doesn’t happen very soon. My baby advice to new moms in this situation is try teaching your baby the difference between night and day. Be active with the baby during day time, talk, interact, play with them. During night times create an atmosphere which is sleep friendly like dim lighting, soothing music and less interaction. Also, babies need to feed every three to four hours at their early months so they are bound to wake up you just need to be prepared for it.

Myth 2: Formula milk is not good for the baby.

Advice for new moms: There’a no harm in giving it, if it’s necessary

As much as the mother desires to give the baby her breast milk sometimes it is not quite possible for her. Due to some reason or the other if she finds herself scanty of breast milk she is left with no other option than formula milk. My baby advice to new moms in this situation is listen to your paediatrician, no one other than her knows your situation best. And formula milk has been developed after years of research and it doesn’t cause any harm to the baby in any way.

Myth 3: Picking up a crying baby might spoil them from very beginning

Advice for new moms: It helps in building the mom-baby bond

Babies in their early months of life communicate only through the way of crying and they expect the elder to hold them. This makes them feel safe and makes a bind between the mother and the baby. The first few months are very essential to make a trust bond. So if you want to teach your baby tough love my baby advice to new moms is wait for the time till the baby actually understands and perceives the situation. Picking a crying baby is not going to spoil them in any way. I am sharing this data after the advice of the paediatrician.

Myth 4: Just handing over some colourful smart toys to make the child bright and smart

Advice for new moms: Teach them ways to play to make them smarter

It’s not the toy with which the baby plays but the way in which the baby plays with the toy makes him smarter. My advice on this for new mothers is to interact with the baby very often, when the baby is playing with the toy try teaching him its purpose or how to play with. The colour, the sound etc, will teach the baby how to play with it and thus achieve the goal of learning something.

Myth 5: Giving a pacifier soaked in honey enhances the development of teeth

Advice for new moms: Not necessary

First and foremost, the weight and height, the skin colour, teething etc, all these factors are dependent on the genetic make up of the baby. No matter what we do the baby will achieve its desired height and also teething will occur depending on the genes. Also, pacifiers with food on it cannot be a very good idea for a baby very young around 7-8 months. It could affect their digestive system. So my simple baby advice to new moms who have been continuously asked by their elders to do something about the teething of the baby try making them understand the fact and reality, also if they really insist just massage the gums of the baby without any substance in your hand. This wouldn’t help in teething, but if teething is happening it will help with soothing the pain.

So ladies I hope you have achieved a new perspective about the advices given to you till date. Any queries or doubts about the same can always be tackled by the paediatrician, always trust him. Don’t jump into taking hasty decisions.

Happy parenting folks!!!
