1. You can judge by your pregnancy cravings

We all have a lot of cravings during pregnancy. Some of them are untimed and some of them are weird. But one can broadly categories them as sweet and desserts and the other one as salty and savoury. Now there is a very popular belief that when a woman craves for sweets she is carrying a baby girl and on the other hand if she has cravings for salty stuff she is carrying a baby boy. But the truth is woman have nutrition high and low during pregnancy. So this determines the craving list actually.

2. Morning sickness gives you a signal

Knowing by morning sickness is another very popular mid wife’s tale. According to this of you have been carrying a girl you would have a very severe bout of morning sickness throughout your pregnancy on the other hand if you are carrying a baby boy the morning sickness won’t be there and your pregnancy will go ahead like a breeze. Now yet again hormonal changes are the reason for this too. But scientifically it has been seen that there are more severe hormonal variations while carrying a girl. But this doesn’t prove the point either.

3. You’ll know it by the heartbeat of your child

It is believed that on the ultrasound when the baby’s heart beats cross over 140 BPM it’s probably a girl and when the heart beat is below 140 it’s probably a boy. Now with experience I have tried this trick every time I go for my doctor’s appointment. But your baby always has a different plan. Either it’s on the border of the values or it is way to difficult to guess. Trust me it’s fun this way and you can never be very much sure about any of these stuffs. Till the time she was born and was given in my arms I wouldn’t I guessed that would be blessed with such a beautiful little baby girl.

4. Your skin’s condition might also tell you

Many people would have told you and you might have heard this time and again during your pregnancy that baby girls if in the womb tend to steal your beauty and make you acne prone. They also cause severe hair loss and loss of lusture of your face. While in terms of baby boy you would have such problems. If it’s a baby boy you would have a glowing skin and the pregnancy glow would even light up the whole room. This baby boy symptom in 6th month is actually quite popular. But yet again it’s all the hormonal play. The more the hormonal fluctuations the more it would affect your akin and hair. Moreover women who carry twins with one and one girl would they have half a lustrous face and half a acne face is it? This question always ponders my thoughts. Jokes apart this is a reality though. Women are judged a lot during pregnancy. But folks all the women are beautiful especially during pregnancy. Carrying a baby in them is a miracle and this is a reason enough to make them glow.

5. Position of the baby in the womb can also tell you

Carrying high or low – it is said that if you carry the baby high in your abdominal area then it’s probably a girl and if the baby is way low then it’s probably a boy. Yet again there is a very good explanation to this. Carrying a baby high and low all depends upon the shape of your uterus and also the formation of your placenta. Let me share my experience with you, with my child I had the weight all growing low and all my pregnancy ultrasound revealed that the placenta was always low lying. Whatever might be the reasons the placement of the placenta was low. But too my surprise it turned out to be a beautiful girl. So you might be encouraged to believe in this by many of your well wishers but always remember do not have a stern belief in them.

Are the baby boy symptoms really true?

Not necessarily. These symptoms are mostly myths going around since ages. People who believe them obviously trust them but these are not backed by any facts.

So folks it was quite interesting to discuss about baby boy symptoms in 6th month, but pregnancy is just not about gender. It about a bond that the mother and the baby has which know one but the mother can only feel. The first time they kicked to the reactions they have when you talk to them can never be replaced by anything in this world. If you are an expectant mother leave aside all the gender biases and pressure of the family, just try to keep yourself and the baby healthy. Ultimate that’s all it takes.

Happy parenting!!!

Dr. Krutika Kumaresan MPT is an Adult and Paediatric Neuro therapist. I am a mother of a beautiful baby girl. She is the most precious thing to have happened to me. Motherhood in the eyes of a medical professional is completely different. Very often I find myself in a dilemma when she is sick I become frozen and panicked. As a first time mother it is sometimes overwhelming and full of surprises. Yes being in medical professional helps me tackle a few things here and there but what I have learnt through the journey so far is it’s okay to not know or being not able to decide for yourself. It’s okay if you seek somebody’s help. It doesn’t mean that you are weak or don’t have enough knowledge it just means you are new at this and trying to do your best. It takes great courage to accept your short comings and learn about it in the process. As a mother and as a medical professional I have just one advice and tip to all the parents out there do not ever try and compare your little one to other children. Every child is unique and is a blessing enjoy their childhood and let them be.
